The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission suspended permits at 12 bars statewide—including three in Austin—over the weekend, for violations of COVID-19 safety guidelines.

The three Austin spots are Buford's Backyard Beer Garden; UnBARlievable; and Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot Icehouse.

Under current guidelines to slow the spread of COVID-19, bars must operate indoors at only a 50% capacity and restaurants at 75% capacity, as well as keep six feet of distance between groups.

TABC said in a statement that the 30-day suspensions were issued after undercover agents working on "Operation Safe Open" found the establishments in violation of the rules.
