American Airlines is adding four new routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to California and Florida as Central Texas continues to see record travel demand.

The airport announced American will begin seasonal travel to celebrity vacation spot Palm Springs, daily Nov. 17-29 and Dec. 15-Jan. 9. It will also expand seasonal nonstop service to Orange County to operate daily year-round starting on Nov. 3.

In addition to the California flights, the airline will resume service to beach destinations Sarasota and Fort Myers, Florida, on Nov. 17 and Dec. 15, respectively.

The new flight additions come after the airline recently added a direct flight to ski destination, Vail, Colorado to begin this fall. Other destinations the airline has begun nonstop flights to are Cozumel, Mexico, and Montego Bay, Jamaica.

“American is excited to provide Central Texans with more nonstop access to Southern California and Florida this winter,” said Philippe Puech, American Airlines director of short-haul network planning. “This additional flying is in direct response to the demand we saw in 2021. We look forward to connecting customers with their family and friends this holiday season.”
