Teen seriously injured by moving train in South Austin

(St.David's South Austin/Facebook)

A teenager was taken to St. David's South Austin Medical Center after a "pedestrian collision" with a moving train on Wednesday afternoon.

Around noon, Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a teenager that was hit by a moving train at West William Cannon Drive and Connonleague Drive. While the teen, who officials have not released the identity of, was awake and speaking when first responders arrived, they could have potentially serious injuries.

ATCEMS said it is unusual for pedestrians to survive collisions with moving trains, but the train did not appear to be traveling at full speed at the time of the collision.
