Name this Longhorn: Austin Zoo runs contest on what to call its newest resident

The newest addition to the Austin Zoo is in need of a name, and for a $2 donation, you can pitch your own idea.

The zoo posted about the new Texas Longhorn on its website and social media this week. Suggestions and donations will be accepted until 6 p.m. July 15 on the zoo's online submission form.

A panel of zoo staff members will decide on the winner.

Paxton Smith’s 2021 valedictory speech at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas wasn’t the same speech she had previously shared with school administrators. She dropped the approved speech and made a case for women’s reproductive rights after lawmakers passed the Texas "Heartbeat Bill.”
