As Austin entered Stage 5 of Austin Public Health risk-based guidelines, vaccinated residents are asked to wear a mask at all times and unvaccinated residents are asked to avoid gatherings and mask up.

As COVID cases and hospitalizations ramp up, live music is in jeopardy—again. The Elephant Room, a downtown cool jazz basement, reopened in June after 15 months of closure before announcing a month later it would close its doors again due to COVID-19.
