First freeze falls on Austin, with more cold nights to come
(Pexels)

After yesterday night's first freeze for the region, Austin can expect a cold and windy week ahead.

This morning marked the coldest on record for Dec. 1, the National Weather Service reported from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

But the day should bring sunny skies, with a high near 62 degrees. Wind is expected around 5-10 mph, but could gust as high as 20 mph. You'll want to put on a sweater and bring in the dog, as well as any sensitive plants.

The rest of the week is expected to be even chillier with another freeze expected on Thursday night.

There's a slight chance of rain on Wednesday, with highs reaching only the low 50s through the rest of the week. But skies are expected to remain sunny for the most part.
