Central Texas H-E-B stores, including Austin stores, will close early today at 5 p.m. as a precaution, the company announced Thursday.

“At H-E-B, our top priority is taking care of Texas, and we are committed to help our fellow Texans in any situation our company and communities might face,” the grocer said in a statement.

Additionally, Central Market locations in Austin will close at 8 p.m.

Out-of-stock items are to be replenished, and curbside and home delivery may have limited availability in certain areas, H-E-B said.

At Austin stores yesterday, lines of shoppers waited upwards of 40 minutes to buy food and other products ahead of the winter weather. They found some items like produce, water and other goods hard to come by with increased demand.
