Juvenile shot and killed near East Austin high school

The Austin Police Department is investigating the death of a juvenile who was shot inside an East Austin home late Wednesday night.

APD said they responded to a 10:30 p.m. 911 call reporting a young male victim had been shot in the chest near Lyndon B. Johnson High School at 7402 Lazy Creek Drive. His age has not been revealed by police.

Officers arrived two minutes later to find the victim with “obvious trauma” and several other unharmed people at the home, who police said are cooperating. The victim was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m.

Detectives are investigating the event as a suspicious death and have not ruled the crime as a homicide and no arrests have been made.

Austin ISD has been notified due to the proximity to the high school.

This is an ongoing investigation—if you have any information, call APD’s Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
