Austin's Kendra Scott announces release date of first memoir

(Shine/Worthy Books)

Announced aptly on International Women's Day, Austin-grown jeweler Kendra Scott is releasing her first-ever memoir "Born to Shine: Do Good, Find Your Joy, and Build a Life You Love."

The entrepreneur, who has built her namesake jewelry company to be a $1 billion company, is sharing her personal journey and life lessons in a "voice that's vulnerable, wise, funny, and poignant" in her memoir released in September.

From a small Wisconsin town, Scott built her business from a spare bedroom with $500 in Austin. The business has grown to over 100 stores since 2002. She is also an active entrepreneur; she was awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year National Award in 2017. Additionally, she is a professor of practice at the Kendra Scott Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute at the University of Texas at Austin.

Matching her yellow branding, the book will be released on Sept. 20 at $28 for a hardcover. The Kendra Scott website is accepting pre-orders.
