The owners of Magnolia Cafe announced on Facebook that they would be closing the Lake Austin location.

"In the face of such a huge hit with the reality of Covid-19 and the incredible uncertainty of the future, we've had to confront the fact that this location will not survive," they wrote.

"We hope to reopen the South Congress location when it is safe to do so," they added.

At least two protests are planned in Austin this weekend over the recent killings of black men by police: Mike Ramos, who was fatally shot by an Austin Police Department officer on April 24 in Southeast Austin, and George Floyd, who died in police custody on Monday after a Minneapolis Police Department officer knelt on his neck. Both events were filmed.
