The Texas Department of State Health Services announced on Monday the launch of a COVID-19 vaccine scheduler, which gives users one place to sign up for an appointment through multiple public health departments.

Texas residents can use the scheduler to create profile with their contact information, demographic details and preferred days and times for an appointment. Within a day, those eligible will be matched with the next available appointment within their home county.

More than a dozen local health entities across the state are participating in the scheduler, including Bastrop County Health Authority and Hays County Local Health Department. Austin Public Health is not one of the participants.

"We made it available to all public health entities, and those on the list chose to be a part of it," Director of Media Relations Chris Van Deusen wrote in an email to Austonia. "Others may join in the future."

The scheduler will not replace all COVID-19 vaccine registration systems across Texas. Many entities, including pharmacies and other providers, will continue to operate their own waitlists.

Everyone 16 and older in Texas is now eligible for the vaccine.
