How to spend this Valentine's, Galentine's or Palentine's Day in Austin

Love is in the air as Valentine’s season rolls around again in Austin. This holiday is really what you make of it and if you don’t have a significant other to spend Feb. 14 with, consider hitting the town with your good friends or even a fluffy friend.


No matter if you’re celebrating Valentine’s, Galentine’s or Palentine’s, there’s a heart-shaped celebration for everyone.

Valentine’s Day mixer at Meanwhile Brewing Co. | 3901 Promontory Point Drive

In the spirit of getting back out there and meeting new people after huddling inside for years, Meanwhile Brewing Co. is hosting a speed-dating-inspired gathering with free live music and specialty drinks for the occasion. Starting at 5 p.m., all participants of the Remember Me Card Game mixer will be entered to win a prize while they sip on a rose and hibiscus seltzer or a rose petal spritz. The night will end with a screening of the quirky French film “Amélie,” so get your tickets for the game and movie here.

​Prix fixe date night at Carpenter’s Hall | 400 Josephine Street

Wine and dine your valentine with a three-course, prix fixe meal at the rustic Carpenter’s Hall. For $58 per person, you and your boo can enjoy smoked beets or beef tartare to start, followed by a main course of crispy halibut with celery root salad or Braised Beef Short Rib with chermoula, complete with an optional wine pairing. For dessert, choose between apple streusel with vanilla bean ice cream or carrot cake with butter pecan ice cream. Get your reservations ASAP!

Trying to celebrate from the comfort of your home this year? Aba has you covered with two options: the Valentine’s Day Dinner for two or the Galentine’s Day package to-go. The first package will treat you to options of lobster bisque, smoky garlic hummus, beef tenderloin, prosecco and more. For the Galentine’s package, share some of its famous whipped feta, ahi tuna, isot double chocolate cake and more, each for $125. Place your orders by Feb 9 at 9 a.m.

​Celebrate with pizza and wine at Sammataro | 1108 E 12th Street

Whether you’re celebrating with that special someone, a close friend or fido, pizza house Sammataro is hosting loving vibes for all types of pairings from 4-9 p.m. on Feb. 14. With Austin-based wine brand Glou Glou Girls serving organic wine to pair with Sammato’s Valentine’s specials, puttanesca or bolognese pie, you can enjoy the sunset in front of a bonfire at the Arbor Food Park.

Fall in love in a completely new way this Valentine’s Day with an indoor skydiving experience. ​Yoga workshop at Crux Central | 6015 Dillard Circle

This Valentine’s day, give yourself and your fit friends the gift of self-care by signing up for a yoga workshop, which will leave you feeling zen with guided meditation and partner poses, at Crux Central from 2-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13. If yoga isn’t your jam, you can get two for $20 climbing on Valentine’s Day or two for $32, which comes with a drink from next door Spokesman Coffee.

​Galentine’s drag queen brunch at Trace | 200 Lavaca St.

Celebrate your best friends with rosé, drag shows and all-you-can-eat breakfast at Trace on Sunday, Feb. 13. With extended brunch hours from 3-10 p.m., guests will have access to the all-you-can-eat waffle bar for $15 per person, plus $5 bloody mary’s and bubbly. Celebrating the queen of girl power, there will be two Rihanna-themed drag shows at noon and 2 p.m. so don’t miss out. Make your reservations here.

Enjoy some lovely, colored treats like red waffles, freshly-baked pink cinnamon rolls, pink mimosas and more the weekend before Valentine’s Day at 1886 Cafe at the 135-year-old Driskill Hotel. The cafe will also sell a limited supply of chocolate-dipped meringues at the front desk, if you want to make things a bit more romantic.

From Friday, Feb. 11, through Valentine’s Day, Austin’s Museum of Ice Cream is offering two admissions for the price of one. Explore a dozen interactive installations, including the Instagram-worthy sprinkle pool and 1960s-inspired diner. Speaking of the diner, you’ll be able to enjoy limited-time Valentine’s treats for the holiday weekend only. Plus, if you bring in an old but functioning cell phone to be recycled through the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence along with you, you’ll be treated to a free scoop of ice cream.
