Mild Austin weather is on its way out, and Austinites should brace for a winter storm hitting Thursday.

A Winter Storm Watch was issued for Central Texas for Thursday as ice is expected to make roads slippery and wind chills will be in the teens.

The freezing winds will come in tonight, with gusts reaching 30 mph and temperatures dropping to a low of 32 degrees. Cold temperatures will stay into Thursday with a high of 39 degrees. Expect a gloomy day as clouds linger and bring a 30% chance of rain, snow and sleet. Temperatures into the night will drop to 26 degrees with a 20% chance of a wintry mix.

While the sun will return on Friday, temperatures will remain low with a high of 48 and low of 27 degrees. The weekend will be about the same with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the high 30s and low 40s.
